  • Developing high potentials

  • Building on success to strengthen self-confidence.
  • Instilling lifelong concepts for success in all endeavors

Give your employees the development they need to become tomorrow’s leaders.

“Rich was a Six Sigma Black Belt, but he struggled with communication skills. Colleagues and bosses complained that he talked in circles. He shared too much information during presentations and failed to highlight what was relevant.

Anna helped Rich to channel his Six-Sigma training into his communication skills. His bosses heard him go from wordy and rambling to succinct. By dramatically improving his communication, Rich’s confidence soared, and his overall presence began to lend itself to further career success.”

Rich seemed to have the whole package that his executive team wanted in a leader: smarts, skills, and the right image. What he needed was the ability to present his ideas and win acceptance.

“Jill was a successful portfolio manager ($3.5 mil base), based in the suburbs of a major metropolitan area. Her clients were in agribusiness, and her image and mannerisms were an excellent fit for inspiring trust in these clients. Her office was being moved into the city, which inserted Jill into an entirely new and different environment.

The transition was disastrous at first. The image and persona that had worked so well with Jill’s suburban clients simply didn’t appeal to her city clients. Rather than transform Jill from a country mouse to a city gal, Anna worked on building Jill’s confidence and self-presentation skills. Jill continued to be true to herself, with an added boost of self-confidence that inspired the confidence of her leadership team. The coaching worked. Jill became successful with the city clients and eventually was offered the biggest account in the company.”

Jill learned that it wasn’t her style or persona that was holding her back as she transitioned to city life—it was her lack of self-assurance.

“Juan was an engineer with a true engineering mind. Simply put, he knew how to make things work! His weakness was communicating his insights to senior management. Specifically, when conflicts arose, Juan tended to walk away and hope it would resolve itself. Anna worked with Juan on his conflict management skills, as well as a broader effort to improve his interactions with senior management.

At the outset of the coaching engagement, the CEO of the company did not think Juan was qualified to hold a senior leadership role. After working with Anna, Juan was promoted to Vice President, the culmination of his 20-year tenure with the company.

”

Juan was a talented engineer, but he fell short in his ability to share his insights with senior management.

“Ava was an experienced certified accountant. Her long-term career ambition was to run for a leadership role in the national organization representing the 75,000 members of her accounting specialty. Not only was Ava hoping to advance her career through a leadership role, but she wanted to bring greater diversity to an organization traditionally made up of white males in their 50s and older. Ava contacted Anna to request a proposal for coaching on communication, navigating political terrain, and image consulting. However, Ava initially chose to hire one of Anna’s competitors instead.

A year later, Ava got back in touch with Anna. She had lost the first election and was running again. She had two months to prepare before the next election and wanted Anna’s help this time. Anna knew that there wasn’t enough time before the election to tackle everything she’d identified for Ava in the original proposal, but they quickly got started. Ava lost the second election in a runoff—the results were extremely close. She came back to Anna the following year, at which point they worked together on Ava’s image, public speaking abilities, navigating the challenges of a politically homogenous organization, and projecting confidence about her goals.

The third time did the trick—Ava was elected president of the organization by a wide margin. Her moving speech blew the members away.

Ava has a new goal: to become a CFO in the private sector. She is working with Anna currently as an advisor as she navigates a new set of political challenges in a corporate setting. Anna encourages Ava to be certain of what she wants, understand the risks, and pursue her desired outcomes.”

Ava pursued her goal to become the national president of her professional organization, developing the image and political savvy required to win over the membership.

“Marjorie was the Canadian CEO of an international financial organization and was transferred to the U.S. headquarters. She was smart and technically savvy, but lacked the presence and image for her new location. She specifically lacked confidence speaking in front of large groups. Anna began with Marjorie’s presence, helping her to select properly fitting clothing and project confidence.

Marjorie began attending local networking events and building up her ability to present to large groups. Over time, she learned to confidently lead her international organization and thrive in the U.S.”

As an international business leader, Marjorie needed to build her confidence after becoming CEO of the U.S. arm of her organization.
