December 2020 Business Case Study

December 1, 2020 By Anna

The Situation: Lessons Not Learned

Wade is a group leader with a very successful team. The team continues to raise the bar in adding to the company’s bottom line and growth. Wade’s challenge is that he continues to make inappropriate comments and fosters an atmosphere that allows and encourages his team to do the same.

The Solution/Action Plan

Wade feels that these incidents of inappropriateness should not matter if he continues to raise the bar for the team, adding to the bottom line, and bringing in new business for the company. Wade does not appreciate how it can be damaging to his potential growth in the company and his team if he does not keep his comments in check. During team sessions, Wade was shown examples of his inappropriate comments. The sessions always ended with a learning lesson.

The Outcome:

Unfortunately, Wade and the organization ended up parting company. This case illustrates the importance of words.  Inappropriateness, no matter how seemingly insignificant, can have long-term damaging effects.

A setback is never a bad experience, just another one of life’s lessons.     Richard Branson
