June Tips For Professional Success

Tip for Organizations:

What do you recommend for ice breakers before a meeting?

Answer:

Icebreakers are helpful in getting everyone relaxed and connected before a meeting begins. An icebreaker activity should not last more than 30 seconds per person. At each meeting, a new person is selected to come up with an icebreaker activity. Some resources I have used are Chit Chat, Innovative Whack Pack (used for breaks in long meetings and to mix up meetings), and Puzzle Master.

Communication Question:

Question:

How can I prevent saying “um” and “ah” when speaking?

Answer:

People say “um” and “ah” when they are not prepared to answer a question or are asked to speak without much preparation. When answering a question or making an impromptu speech, pause before talking. Think about your answer or comment. Try not to rush your words. If you sense an “um” or “ah” is coming, simply take a breath and pause for a moment. It’s also helpful to try to think in complete sentences.

Presence  Question:

Question:

How do I choose a face mask style and color that works?

Answer:

Finding a face mask that fits and feels comfortable is not easy. I found one by trying on two different types. One of the masks had a triple fold of fabric and the other one wrapped around my face. Color is important because the masks we are looking at are not medical masks reserved for doctors, nurses, and individuals on the front line. We want to wear masks that have two pieces of fabric and a liner for protection. I have made several masks and still not found the right one in which to be comfortable. The website Real Simple has guidelines and helpful DIY tips for face masks. The most important aspect is wearing the mask. If you pick a color you like, and the mask is comfortable, wearing it will be much easier. Like it or not, face masks are here to stay.

Question:

How important is it to wear a face mask during a social engagement when stay at home orders are lifted?

Answer:

In the world’s current situation, wearing a face mask can depend on the function: family, business, or social. It is up to the hosts and the participants to determine the guidelines. Then each individual will correspondingly need to make their own decision, respecting the guidelines upon which individuals have mutually agreed. As a general rule, face masks are necessary not only to protect one’s self but to protect others.
