April Tips For Professional Success
Title:
Tip for Organizations:
We are a new group of engineers and senior management has asked that we begin to visit clients to check on issues related to our product. What tips can we use to navigate difficult concerns related to products that may come up?
Answer:
Listen to the issues very carefully. Never get ahead of the speaker. Avoid interrupting and show empathy. When asked a question, be very specific in providing an answer if you have one. Otherwise, provide a resolution timeline. Always leave the client satisfied that they have been heard.
Communication Question:
Question:
I am working with a client who supports a person who never delivers on commitments. Should I address it with the individual or go directly to the client?
Answer:
Never go above the person you are working with. Be direct. Ask what needs to be accomplished and secure a clear timeline on the deliverable.
Presence Question:
Question:
Newer pants for women in certain suits show capris with jackets. I recently saw a senior partner in a law firm wear a suit with Capri pants! Should I consider purchasing clothes like that to be in fashion?
Answer:
I am not in favor of Capri style pants. They can make one look short and dumpy. At best, they are more for casual wear, but I still do not recommend them.
