Question:
How can we help managers deal with dotted line team members that fail to respond to communications?
Answer:
The best approach is to keep the communication ongoing, no matter what. It is challenging because these folks have many responsibilities and unfortunately, dotted line managers tend to be the last person they consider. Make sure you meet the individuals in-person, if possible, rather than through video conferencing. Establish guidelines on the communications that work best for all parties, remaining respectful of everyone’s time.
