We have a group of professionals not receiving promotions because of their fear of public speaking.
Answer:
Speaking in front of groups is critical to be heard and to create visibility. Toastmasters is a great organization that helps folks feel more comfortable in speaking to groups. Also, in face to face team meetings give each member an opportunity to present.
Communication Question:
Question:
How do you question a speaker when their facts are incorrect without appearing intrusive?
Answer:
If possible, question without attacking. Share your point of view and ask the individual if s/he can detect the ways it differs from their statement. Modulate your tone of voice and make sure to set a conversational environment.
Presence Question:
Question:
Our staff will be starting to interview for other positions in the organization. We are very business casual. Is a wearing a suit always necessary for internal interviews?
Answer:
A jacket with a companion pair of slacks or skirt for women is acceptable in business casual situations. It’s less formal but still exudes a presence.

When can we touch another person? Are hugs acceptable?
Answer:
A handshake is the only professional protocol that allows a physical touch. Only hug if you have a very close relationship and always ask for permission.
