September Tips For Communication & Presence Impact

Tip for Organizations:

Question:
What is rule of thumb or guidelines for tipping for service at a restaurant? We have new group of younger associates that will be entertaining clients and customers.

Answer:
It is important to tip at least 20% for good service. The gratuities are split not just with the servers, they are also divided among the folks who clean the table. Consider a 25% tip for long usage of the table.

Communication Question:

Question:
How do you handle folks, without appearing rude, who run on and on in dialog?

Answer:
Check out Brian Williams, a news host on MSNBC. He is a master at interrupting at the appropriate time especially when someone is going on way too long.

Presence  Question:

Question:
Are women’s tops with the shoulders cut off appropriate in a business setting?

Answer:
This new trend of tops for women shows how desperate retailers are to find ways to introduce new clothing lines. On casual days, these tops are borderline and should never be worn as business casual.

Question:
Does it matter what one wears for a professional photo?

Answer:
Yes, it is important to dress to your target audience. LinkedIn photos tend to lean more to professional dress. Facebook headshots are more on the casual side. In all cases, photos should be changed every five years.
