The Situation: Newly promoted executive
Bill was promoted to a new role. His responsibilities included leading a newly formed division. However, he struggled in thinking beyond the normal protocols in forming the new group. His new manager even expressed concern about Bill’s potential handling of the new responsibilities. And, in fact, Bill avoided taking charge of building a diverse team of thinkers. Instead, he oversaw only one current manager and avoided actively seeking new team members.
The Solution:
Bill took the Platinum Rule assessment and began applying those tools to add another behavior to his leadership skills. He started soliciting input from senior leaders on the talents needed for the new team and their expectations for a successful initiative.
The Outcome:
As Bill started to add these new behaviors to ensure his success and that of his management and team, the senior leaders noticed and expressed encouragement in the small steps Bill took to expand his leadership skills.
