February Tips For Communication & Image Success

Tip for Organizations:

Question:
We have a new team. How can we help them become more effective at communicating with each other?

Answer:
Get off to a quick start by having each member share the communication style that best works for them to ensure success in working with each other. Example: The best way to interact with me is by e-mail and or with an emergency text, if necessary. Expect a response from me within the day.

Communication Question:

Question:
Recently, I presented to an unresponsive group in the afternoon. What could I have done better to engage them?

Answer:
Afternoon presentations are difficult. When the group returns from lunch, presenting an interactive physical interaction immediately will help.

Presence  Question:

Question:
Are jeans becoming more acceptable as business casual?

Answer:
It depends on the organization but jeans must be in good condition and well pressed. Baggy jeans are never acceptable. Also, stay away from the fashionable torn ones at work.

Question:
What do you do when you have forgotten someone’s name?

Answer:
Apologize. That’s what I did when it happened to me recently with a senior leader I met just a month ago. Then, begin a new conversation not referencing the embarrassing situation.
