The Situation: Handling difficult situations
Ann was recently promoted to a new role working with difficult managers. She is constantly running from project to project. Often deadlines are missed because Ann thinks she can make them but does not. Senior leaders are concerned that this promotion was too soon for her. In the past, Ann has been a top performer.
The Solution:
Ann began to realize missing deadlines was not acceptable. Her lack of communication on project status was even more of a problem because Ann thought she could make the deadlines at the last minute. She forced herself to see that it was better to be realistic about when a project could be finished and learn how to delegate some of the work. Ann also became much better at determining achievable deadlines.
