December Tips For Communication & Image Success

Tip for Organizations:

Question:
What are a few tips for our high potentials that might help them continue to develop their brand while getting the attention of senior leaders?

Answer:
Ask the high potentials to list how they have impacted the organization. They should use examples of achievements when leading a team or project, show how what they stand for aligns with the organization’s mission statement and note the way their achievements contributed to the success and growth of the organization.

Communication Question:

Question:
I get very nervous when speaking at a team meeting with senior leaders. How can I control this?

Answer:
There are several ways to practice controlling your nervousness. For example, before the meeting, talk out loud to yourself using voice stretching tools (saying words with high and low pitches). Write down notes you can refer to during the session and practice breathing evenly to steady your nerves.

Presence  Question:

Question:
I have just been asked to become a board member. I’ve observed that some of the members dress very casually where I am more comfortable in professional dress. How can I look more casual without feeling uncomfortable?

Answer:
Opt to wear a companion jacket instead of a full suit with slacks. Also, sweaters made with a fine flat knit have more polish than a bulk knit.
