The Situation:
Business Casual to Professional Dress
The Solution:
Jim has been promoted to a vice president and now will be meeting once a quarter with members of the C-suite. His background is in operations where he mainly interfaced with manufacturing staff at their facilities. His wardrobe consists of jeans, khaki pants, a few polo shirts and one blazer.
Jim does not have a typical shape. Wearing a complete suit, the jacket would fit but the pants that typically go with the suit would be too small. Suit pants can be let out one size but not two. We were able to find Calvin Klein suits that sold separately at a major department store.
He ended up with two suits, one in dark gray and one in black. Along with several pairs of dress and casual pants, we added dress shirts to be worn with a tie and dress casual shirts to be worn without a tie, along with dress and casual belts and a versatile trench coat with a removable liner.
The Outcome:
Jim now looks the role of a new vice president and feels comfortable traveling with the board of directors when they have their semiannual meetings and yearly retreats. The fit of the suits and color choices with the shirts and ties gives him confidence to be able chose the right items to wear for any occasion with senior leadership.
