January Tips For Communication & Image Success
Tip for Organizations:
Question:
We have folks that would do a great job but are never asked to interview for a position that might help them move upward in the organization. How can we assist them?
Answer:
They might be seen as doers as opposed to strategic thinkers and as such, they may be seen as very valuable where they are at. So, number one is that they need to have a succession plan in place by grooming someone to do their job. Secondly, and most importantly, is to find one or two champions/sponsors who will recommend them for the next senior role.
Communication Question:
Question:
I speak fast and am told my answers seem to be very flippant. Please offer suggestions on how to slow down but not seem unsure or nervous.
Answer:
Some folks consider fast talking as a sign of nervousness while speaking slowly has been viewed as appearing more thoughtful and more intelligent. There are some things you can do to slow down your rapid speaking. One is to repeat the question slowly back to the audience while thinking about a response. Use words that are easier to pronounce for you. That will assist with smoothing your accent.
Presence Question:
Question:
Are bright colors for shirts, ties or scarfs coming back?
Answer:
The color for 2015 is MARSALA, PANTONE 18-1438.
Marsala is a naturally robust and earthy wine red, but it is also viewed as more than just a color. “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth,” says Leatrice Eiseman Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute.
