Tip for Organizations:
Question:
What do you recommend for our group to set ourselves apart when going to a class so we can begin building our circle of resources when meeting leaders in the organization?
Answer:
First, when the opportunity arises, meet the leaders of the organization, before or after they present. Make sure your group members state their name with confidence, mention the group they are with and what they are involved in. If they are not able meet, have one or two key leaders give the presenters a thank you note for speaking to the group. If possible, mention a comment made during their presentation.
Communication Question:
I get very nervous in a networking session and act like a deer caught in headlights. What do you suggest to help me appear confident?
Answer:
Practice, practice, practice. There is no other way to do it. Form a group and meet on a regular basis. During the sessions, each person can give their personal introduction and say something interesting about themselves. Another idea is go to a networking event to become comfortable meeting different people.
Presence Question:
Question:
I am short and stocky in physical appearance. What clothing type of clothing will help me look taller and thinner?
Answer:
Alterations are important to ensure sleeve and hem lengths are the correct proportions. Choose a shirt or top with pants or a skirt that will pick up the colors of your top to help elongate the body. Matching your shoe color to your dark slacks will also add height to you. For men, shirts must be appropriate in length so they tuck in easily to their pants. I often have shirts cut down in length.
