When building a virtual team, especially one that is global, it is best to begin with video conferencing either weekly or monthly before you transition into e-mail exchanges. Also, set email etiquette guidelines and timelines for responses.

Answer:
Requesting a date when you need a response is critical. Provide a reply by date and ask if it can be met. If you continue not to get an answer, the next step is a follow-up phone call.

Most of my meetings are video conferences. I tend to get very serious, and often appear intimidating. How can I soften my presence?
Answer:
Wear more relaxed shaped clothing. For example, if you’re wearing a blazer stay away from black or harsh colors. Do not wear a jacket if is not required. If you’re wearing a tie, loosen it or if you’re in long sleeves, roll them up.
