December Tips For Communication & Image Success
Tip for Organizations:
Question:
Our associates are beginning their holiday entertaining by taking clients to lunch to thank them for their business. Some clients may order alcoholic beverages. How do our folks handle this? What should we recommend to those who doing the entertaining?
Answer:
I would suggest they order a sparkling water if the client orders an alcoholic beverage.
Communication Question:
Question:
Is it appropriate to add a holiday message to a voice mail greeting?
Answer:
Wishing everyone a happy holiday on your voice mail greeting works if the majority of your callers celebrate the holidays. If not, then wishing everyone a Happy New Year’s might be more appropriate. Also, wishing a happy holiday in your greetings will be more effective if it begins two weeks before the holiday.
Wardrobe Question:
Question:
To get in the holiday spirit, how soon can I start wearing holiday clothing items?
Answer:
Wearing holiday clothing items two weeks before will not wear out the holiday spirit. Also, wear only one festive item at a time. For example, for a man, never wear a holiday tie with a holiday patterned sweater; for a woman, refrain from wearing holiday earrings with a holiday blouse.

Question:
The holiday season parties often have buffets for appetizers and even for the main meal. How much food should you put on a plate?
Answer:
Never pile food on your plate. The rule of thumb is to place just one or two of each item on your dish. Going back twice for more is also general rule. Remember that holiday parties are for relationship building.
